Hence, this research-based textbook is useful in teaching the major course titled Trends and Issues in Social Studies under the competency-based/outcomes-based Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies program as prescribed in the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 75, series of 2017. The reference materials used were carefully curated to address the need for a reliable instructional material for Social Studies teacher educators and pre-service teachers. Further, this textbook is also helpful to in-service teachers, practitioners, and graduate students to address issues and update themselves with the current trends in teaching Social Studies in basic education.
