Abstract: Tricycles have a significant role in the local economy of the Filipino community. Despite this, the tricycle transportation system faces the issue of fare overpricing. While fare regulations require strict adherence to mandated fare rates, the compliance of tricycle drivers varies greatly. This study aims to assess the compliance of tricycle drivers in Tagbilaran City with the mandated fare rates set by local authorities, while also identifying the factors that influence these drivers' noncompliance with the established fare rates. The data was gathered using structured questionnaires administered to 100 tricycle drivers in Tagbilaran City. The data collected was statistically analyzed using frequency counts, weighted means, t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings highlight a pervasive issue of noncompliance among respondents. The analysis of compliance revealed significant differences based on age, years of experience, and net income. The findings also indicate that tricycle drivers' noncompliance with mandated fare rates is primarily influenced by operational costs and socio-cultural factors, with long-distance trips as another contributing factor. In line with this, the researchers recommend the city government to constantly update fare rates reflective of fluctuations in operational costs, while commuters should insist on paying the mandated rate and avoid fare negotiations to prevent noncompliance.
