ABSTRACT
The community health workers (CHW) are key players in enhancing health, empowering communities, advocating health through life course, ensuring equal access and better continuity of care providing safe, efficient and quality care. Nurses and midwives are one of the front lines of the community. CHWs face a variety of challenges in performing their responsibilities, which can compromise the quality of effectiveness of the ehealth services received by community members. These barriers can arise out of not knowing how to complete the responsibility, being unable to complete the responsibility due to contextual or structural barriers, or lacking the desire to complete the task. The researcher’s purpose is to have this kind of research to identify the challenges encountered by the nurses and midwives working in the community. The study used descriptive research design. This employs with the aid of a questionnaire while gathering valid and factual data from which the conclusions are drawn. There were (50) fifty respondents. On the respondents demographics there are (42) forty-two female workers and (8) eight male health workers. Most of the respondents (12, 42%) have an age range of 31-40 years old. Majority of them are married (32, 64%). More than half or 27 of them have a monthly income of 26,000-35,000. Most of them have 6-10 years of work experience in the community. The challenges encountered in the community are commonly identified: lack of transportation, lack of cooperation and participation in the community, and no budget or less budget of the health sector. There are more indicators of challenges faced in the structural and contextual aspect.
