Summary: "This book describes how a nontraditional university president worked to win over faculty and staff while having to make deep financial cuts to keep the university solvent. It provides in-depth managerial insights into how Green, along with university staff and faculty--the Vandal Tribe-- recovered from years of deep deficits despite the potentially severe impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. It goes on to describe the three strategic pillars (student success, the path to R1 Carnegie research classification, and controlling the narrative by telling the U of I's story), along with guidance from industry experts, focused the institution on helping chart its course. The collaborative efforts of the Vandal Tribe and external experts resulted in the university's financial solvency, soaring enrollments, record research awards, the opening of the institution safely during the pandemic, and record fundraising. The book also shares how the university faced one of the most heinous crimes in the area and state's history against four University of Idaho students. It tells how the university responded to the tragic homicides while keeping the needs of the families and campus community as its priority."-- Provided by publisher.
