Summary: Since the establishment of the first department of psychology in the Philippines in 1926, there has been a mushrooming of higher education institutions that offer psychology programs. The paper discusses the problems that resulted from this, namely, the nonstandardized curricula across schools, the lack of qualified and competent faculty, and the lack of updated materials and inadequate facilities. It also discusses the efforts of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) memorandum orders on Policies and Standards for Undergraduate and Graduate Programs in Psychology. Lastly, the paper focuses on what psychology teachers who play a crucial role in the education and formation of future psychologist can do to improve their teaching, which is key to strengthening the teaching of psychology in the Philippines.
