The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a chatbot application in improving the academic performance of Grade 8 students in learning Physics at San Agustin National High School during the first quarter of the academic year 2022-2023.
The study employed a quasi-experimental research design, utilizing a researcher-made test as the assessment instrument to compare the performance of two sections of Grade 8 students before and after the implementation of the chatbot intervention. The T-test for two dependent samples was used to determine the significant difference in the pre-test and post-test scores, while the mean gain performance was calculated using the average scores of both groups.
The results showed that prior to the intervention, both groups of students performed similarly in Physics. However, after the implementation of the chatbot intervention, a significant difference was observed in the performance of the two groups. The experimental group treated with the chatbot intervention showed a higher mean gain performance compared to the control group treated with traditional methods. This finding suggests that the chatbot application is a more effective tool for enhancing students' performance in Physics compared to traditional methods. As such, it is recommended that this intervention be adopted in science education.
