520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Journalists working in national media outlets did not differ from journalists working in local media outlets. There were also no significant differences in the perceived trust items among journalists working in different types of broadcast media-print, radio, television, Internet, and news agencies. In sum, it seems that perceived trust could not be predicted by any type of occupational or demographic variable, except for religiosity. Pervading many of the specific interpretations of New Journalism is a posture of subjectivity. Subjectivism is thus a common element among many of it definitions. In contrast to a conventional journalistic striving for an objectivity, subjective journalism allows for the writer's opinion, idea or involvement to creep into his story. The principles of good journalism are directed towards bringing the highest quality of news reporting to the public interest. To a large degree, the codes and canons evolved via observation of and response to past ethical lapses by journalists and publishers. Today, it is common for terms of employment to mandate adherence to such codes equally applicable to both staff and freelance journalists; journalists may face dismissal for ethical failures. Upholding professional standards also enhances the reputation of and trust in a news organization, which boosts the size of the audience it serves.
