The study of an individual's contexts within communities is termed as community psychology. It seeks to understand the human behavior in its cultural, historical, ecological and sociopolitical setting. Community psychology is an interdisciplinary field which is closely associated with community development, applied anthropology, public health, social work and community practice. The guiding principles of this discipline are social justice, empowerment, diversity, individual wellness, citizen participation, sense of community and empirical grounding. The key objectives of community psychology are to design innovative and alternative interventions for the wellbeing of individuals, Collaboration of affected community members is of utmost importance in designing these interventions. |
