Summary, etc. |
This book presents a focus on the harmful effects of non-renewable energy resources on our environment. Unsurprisingly, use of the non-renewable energy sources has a multitude of harmful effects on our environments, either because of how they are extracted and processed, or because of how they can be used and disposed of. Effects also vary depending on the type of non-renewable resource used, for example, whether it is fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas, coal or nuclear. Over the last few years, oil, gas and mineral prices have increased steadily. For many countries producing and exporting such products, this upward trend in prices has generated significant windfall revenues. Given the importance of such resources in many developing countries and their non-renewable nature, it's essential to enhance understanding of how such revenues are in use at the local level and to what extent they add value to sustainable development. This book focuses on these issues. |
