Summary, etc. Abstract

In health facilities, the means of evaluating maternal care services is through measuring maternal satisfaction. The satisfaction of the woman may cause effects to her health immediately or lasting. Thus, providing satisfying delivery care increases utilization of services. Most hospitals are governed by physicians and nurses, while lying-in clinics are usually run by midwives. It has been observed that an increasing number of pregnant women opt to deliver their babies in the lying-in clinics rather than in the hospital for whatever reason they may have. Thus, the researcher was impelled to conduct a descriptive study of the hospital and the lying-in clinics of Camiguin province.

This study sought to determine the maternal care services rendered in the hospital and lying-in clinics of Camiguin and the satisfaction of postpartum women who received the services.

The study made use of the descriptive design and was conducted in the main hospital and four lying-in clinics of Camiguin. The respondents of the study were the postpartum women who gave birth on the month of October 2018. To treat the data gathered, percentage and weighted mean were used as the statistical methods.

The study revealed that the hospital and lying-in clinics were able to provide the maternal care services on safety of the mother, safety of the newborns, psychological support, maternity care and other auxiliary services to their respondents who were the postpartum women and the respondents were very satisfied with the maternal care services offered by both facilities. However, it gleaned that there were respondents in the lying-in clinics who were more satisfied with the services than the respondents of the hospital.
